Typology of the Albanian Small-Scale Fisheries

Abstract The lack of reliable fisheries statistics hampers full assessment the status marine resources. Central to this problem are data-poor such as Albanian seas and in particular SSF sector. present study aims portray small-scale fishery south waters based on daily onboard monitoring species catches during a two-year period (2016-2018). Results revealed total 6 11 fishing métiers for nets longlines, respectively. most important target terms were Merluccius merluccius , Mullus surmuletus Pagellus erythrinus Sepia officinalis Solea vulgaris . Longline categorized into two distinct métiers, one targeting large pelagics Thunnus thynnus Xiphias gladius, other wide range Sparidae Epinephelus marginatus data analysis presented here aim reduce current quantitative data-limited case provide information developing fishery.
